This year I will be celebrating with a glass of champagne and enjoying a traditional dish with black eyed peas. Eating black eyed peas on New Year's Eve is a southern custom and is thought to bring good luck and financial fortune in the coming year. They are often served as a side dish, along with greens and cornbread.
